Using simple commands on your Mac or PC, you can “copy and paste” one word, a web address, a password, entire paragraphs – even pictures. It’s useful to know how to copy and paste, because the process will work in almost any program on your computer. How do I copy something? Hold down and press = Mac OS X copies whatever is selected into the (invisible) clipboard. How do I paste something? Hold down and press = Mac OS X pastes whatever is in the clipboard into a document or image you are currently editing.
Cut and paste items from the Clipboard. If you're not already there, click Home, then click the launcher in the lower-right corner of the Clipboard group. Select the text or graphics you want to copy, and press Ctrl+C.
Each selection appears in the Clipboard, with the latest at the top. Optionally, repeat step 2 until you've copied all the items you want to use.
Tip: After you open the Clipboard, it stores content that you copy or cut from anywhere. The same thing happens when you set the Clipboard to store content but remain closed, as long as you have an Office program running. For more about that, see below. Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: intel Hi, I'm a recent switcher to Mac computers, and I'm having trouble finding the clipboard in Word 2008. I just want to be able to copy a bunch of stuff, then go back to my Word Document and pick and choose what to copy, where. Also, for some reason I can't keep the formatting when I try to copy & paste from Firefox onto word. The text just becomes plain text.
But if I use Safari, the formatting is copied over into Word. Is this a bug with Mozilla, and not Microsoft? Or is there some sort of setting I can modify on Word?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Michel Bintener 11/4/2008, 23:51 น. Hi Dana, welcome to the Mac!
Hi, I'm a recent switcher to Mac computers, and I'm having trouble finding the clipboard in Word 2008. I just want to be able to copy a bunch of stuff, then go back to my Word Document and pick and choose what to copy, where. In Word:mac, the clipboard you're trying to find is part of the Scrapbook feature. Click on ViewScrapbook, and the Formatting Palette will change to reveal a series of clipboards. You can then simply select some text in Word and then click on Add, or you can drag some text from the document into the Scrapbook. The Scrapbook allows you to rename the clippings and categorise them.
Note that once items are in the Scrapbook, they are also available in any of the other Office apps. Also, for some reason I can't keep the formatting when I try to copy & paste from Firefox onto word. The text just becomes plain text. But if I use Safarithe formatting is copied over into Word. Is this a bug with Mozilla, and not Microsoft? Or is there some sort of setting I can modify on Word?
This is a known bug with Firefox, if I remember correctly. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! - Michel Bintener Microsoft MVP Office:mac (Entourage & Word). Please always reply to the newsgroup. [email protected] 16/4/2008, 10:03 น. Thanks for this response.
I am trying to figure out the same thing. Your reply helps.
But, can you only use the scrapbook/clipboard when using Word or other Office programs? Or can you use it when cutting and pasting from Safari? Thanks Jodi Hi Danawelcome to the Mac!

Hello Jodi, Some of my friends swear by PTHPasteboard freeware. I haven't used it personally.
From their website: 'How often have you copied something only to find that you need it a few minutes later but you've already copied another item? PTHPasteboard watches you while you work and keeps a copy of any items that you have copied to your pasteboard.'

The 'Clipboard' belongs to the operating system, and is available to all applications. The 'Scrapbook' is a file maintained by the Office applications and is available only within Office.
Office has some cunning code that feeds entries from the scrapbook into the clipboard as needed:-) Cheers On 16/04/08 10:03 AM, in article [email protected], 'Jodi Stark ' wrote: - Don't wait for your answer, click here: Please reply in the group. Please do NOT email me unless I ask you to.

Ok I had a look at PTH pasteboard and it mentioned all kinds of functions except what I want, are you sure, as you said you haven't actually used it yourself. I want to access a document that I was prompted to save on the clipboard when I shut down my computer. Then I never want to use the clipboard again. I have looked at about 44 threads on the net and they all describe action that just isn't possible.
Like go to edit tab and open x. And it just isn't offered as an option, absolutely no instructions are followable.I've got mountain lion and I was using a word 2007.I don't like the sound of PTH pasteboard as it mentions hot keys and they are very hard to undo if there is a bug. I've been communicating with SIL whose free font downloads really messed up my keyboard and dispite uninstalling many times I cannot use my commas anymore, its bad, as I'm a writer with hectic dealines.when formatting my hard drive I have days of work to get my stuff running again.so i'm not installing any more hot keys.does anyone know anyone who has actually retrieved something from the clipboard they were prompted to save there on shutting down and has another way of doing it.
